THREE Cuban migrants were taken to Freeport after they were intercepted by US Coast Guard officials near Elbow Cay last week, Bahamian immigration officials reported on Tuesday.
According to reports, sometime around 9pm on September 10, US Coast Guard Cutter Margaret Norville stopped a fishing vessel five miles off Elbow Cay.
Three Cuban males were discovered on board and taken to a Royal Bahamas Defence Force vessel.
The migrants were taken to Freeport Harbour and handed over to immigration authorities who took them to the Immigration Department for processing. The men told officers that they were on their way to the United States when they were intercepted by the US Coast Guard.
