THE Hope Ball Gala Committee, which is holding its fifth Annual Hope Ball Gala at the Grand Lucayan Resort on October 16 to raise proceeds to help persons afflicted with cancer, has received a significant donation from Family Guardian Insurance.

John Hepburn, agency manager of financial services at Family Guardian, presented a cheque to Nurse Pam Ferguson, the committee chairperson, on Thursday.

In addition to its donation, Family Guardian, the title sponsor, has been a major corporate partner since the inception of the Hope Ball in 2010.

A spokesperson for the event said that all proceeds raised will be donated to the Cancer Society of The Bahamas Grand Bahama branch, which provides education awareness and financial assistance to residents in need of treatment.

Nurse Ferguson said that corporate partnerships are important for the continued viability of cancer initiatives, such as the Hope Ball.

“We appreciate Family Guardian’s dedication and commitment to the Hope Ball. They have been our corporate partners for five years and we know that every year we can depend on their support. Relationships like this allow us to help persons in the community who have cancer and need financial assistance with treatment,” she said.

Nurse Ferguson said that although October is traditionally known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the funds raised at this year’s ball will assist people diagnosed with other types of cancer as well.
