TROPICAL Storm Ida has weakened and changed direction as it swirls over the sub-tropical Atlantic Ocean, although it remains no threat to land.
Ida is centred about 965 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and is now moving east-southeast around 5mph.
The storm’s maximum sustained winds on Tuesday morning are near 45mph with some fluctuations in strength possible during the next two days, according to the US National Hurricane Centre.
Ida, the ninth named storm of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season, is expected to continue slowly on an eastward path for the next two days and then could turn more toward the northwest or north.
