POLICE are on the hunt for a suspect responsible for a shooting incident that left one man dead late Tuesday night.
This homicide occurred less than 24 hours before a woman was found beaten to death in Grand Bahama. The country’s murder count now stands at 114 for the year, according to The Tribune’s records.
According to reports, shortly after 11pm, the victim was sitting in front of a home on Dunmore Street, when he got into an argument with two men. The argument resulted in the victim being shot multiple times in his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A short while later, police took a 56-year-old man into custody who is assisting them with their investigation. Police said they are looking for another suspect.
Police have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.
Murders this year have continued to outpace the number recorded this same time last year. At the end of September 2014, the country had recorded 88 homicides, according to statistics provided by the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
According to The Tribune’s records, there have been 14 homicides this month while there were only four murders in September 2014.
