ON CABLE BAHAMAS
THE much-anticipated bout between the world’s top welterweight boxers Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley on Saturday in Las Vegas’ MGM Grand will be shown live on Cable Bahamas REV.
After his defeat by Floyd Mayweather last May, Filipino superstar Pacquiao is looking to settle an old score with five-time world champion Bradley, whom he previously fought in 2012 and 2014 with each fighter winning once. The bout is rumoured to be eight-division world champion Pacquiao’s final fight before retirement.
REV has the exclusive rights to show “Pacquiao-Bradley 3” in The Bahamas. The event will cost $59.95 and will be screened on channel 874.
RUGBY
NATIONAL TEAM PRACTICE
THERE will be no official games until May 7 when the Bahamas Rugby Union is scheduled to host Mexico in a World Cup Qualifier.
However, the national team is looking to set up a training game at Winton 4pm on Saturday.
“I’d like to ask all available players (or anybody who can find their boots) to come out and participate in this game to give the guys some opposition.

COB TEAM OFF
A nine-member contingent from the College of the Bahamas track and field team is off to the University of Miami, Florida, this weekend to compete in the University of Miami Invitational.
The team consists of Leonardo Romer - javelin; Ashley Oembler - discus and shot put; Anthon Lightbourne - discus and shot put; Deneisha Bagot - high jump; Celine Thompson - high jump; Blayre Fernander - high jump; Yurick Dean - 100m and 200m; Dennis Williamson - 200m and 400m and Jessi Wilson - 100m and 200.
The team will be led by coach Mark Humes.

BGF TAKES TOURNEY
TO EXUMA
THE Bahamas Golf Federation, in keeping with one of its prime objectives, announced today that it will be holding its next tournament at the Sandals, Emerald Bay Golf Course, on the island of Exuma.
The one-day affair is a treat for golfers nationwide, following closely on the heels of the recently held Bahamas Masters, held at the Ruby Golf Course in Freeport, Grand Bahama.
The tournament in Exuma is scheduled for Sunday, May 1 with an 11am shotgun start and will include play in both the men’s and ladies’ categories.
The golf course, designed by golf legend Greg Norman, is recognised as one of the most scenic, ocean-side golf courses in the Caribbean, and its swirling winds and slick, well bunkered greens are expected to test the skills of the Federation’s most skilled golfers.
The entry deadline is April 29.
ROAD RACE
UNCLE LOU
THE 9th annual Uncle Lou Road Race will be held on Saturday, April 23, starting at 6am from Rawson Square and will end at the St Augustine’s College campus on Bernard Road.
The registration fee is $20 and the package includes a t-shirt, water, fruits and snacks on the day of the race. There will be two segments of the race.
The runners will travel from Rawson Square to south on Parliament Street, right on Shirley Street, around to Princess Street in front of Government House, right on Cumberland Street onto Bay Street to Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge to Paradise Island, right on Paradise Island to the old bridge, left on Bay Street to right on Village Road, left on Bernard Road to St Augustine’s College.
The walkers will travel from Rawson Square, Bay Street to Village Road to Bernard Road to St Augustine’s College.

JUDO
BAHAMAS MEDALS
AT PAN AM
DELEON Sweeting, competing in the 90+ kilogram division, won a bronze medal at the junior Pan Am judo tournament in the Dominican Republic this week.
Andrew Munnings, in the 73kg, came away with a 5th place finish, while Taliano Ferguson, in the 66kg, also represented himself well with a very strong performance.
“We learned a lot this week,” said coach Kentico Forbes, who accompanied the athletes.
“The training camp paid off and everyone was able to bring their game to a higher level.”
The team is being prepared for CARIFTA 2017 and the Commonwealth Youth Games, also in 2017.
