A 25-year-old Eight Mile Rock man was charged with murder and armed robbery in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Sheldon Bodie, a resident of Pinedale, appeared before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Dexter Bellamy on May 28. He was also charged with three counts of armed robbery.
Bodie pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded to the Department of Correctional Services until October 10, when a preliminary inquiry will be held.
In a separate matter, the accused was also charged with assault with a deadly instrument. He pleaded not guilty and the matter was also adjourned to October 10 for trial.
Bodie was then taken to court two, where he appeared before Magistrate Charlton Smith to answer to firearm and ammunition possession charges. He pleaded not guilty and the matter was adjourned to October 11 for trial.
