THE Team Strikers are back from another successful training camp held at the National Boxing Academy of Cuba in Havana, which brought the boxers one step closer to Olympic glory.
The trip and the training were orchestrated by Tureano Johnson, the current WBC Silver middleweight champion and next in line to fight Gennady “Triple G” Golovkin for the WBC World Championship title.
During the camp, Team Strikers were not only exposed to the Cuban style of boxing but also the local culture. More importantly, they were given the opportunity to train under the guidance of coach Jesus Yu Polier, one of the top four amateur boxing coaches in the world.
All of the members of Team Strikers were able to get much needed sparring with top Cuban fighters. Some of them including, coach Rodgers, were able to spar with the Cuban Youth World Champions.
The boxers, who participated in the event were: Amron Sands, 21; Davon Hamilton, 17; D’Angelo Swaby, 26; Israel Johnson, 19; Hubert Fernander, 23; Tyrone Oliver, 21; Rudy Regis, 20 and Kendric Stuart, 21.
