FOUR Cuban migrants were brought to Grand Bahama after US Coast Guard officials spotted them onboard a rustic vessel near the Cal Sal Bank this week, an immigration official reported on Friday.
The men were taken into custody onboard the US Coast Guard Cutter Williams Flores, which transported them to Lucayan Harbour. They were turned over to immigration authorities on Thursday evening.
The migrants were taken to Immigration Headquarters in Freeport, where they were processed and detained overnight. On Friday, they were flown to New Providence to be taken to the Detention Centre and await repatriation.

So is this how it's going to be? The USA opened up to Cuba and is investing there now but the Bahamas will still have to deal with Cuban migrants trying to get to Miami?
We need a new policy now. Tag and release. Catch them. Sure up their boat. Point them in the right direction and let them go.
Tell the Americans that from now on we will help the Cubans get to Miami. If the USA disagrees then tell them they have to fund our immigration's intercept and deportation programs.
It is time we stop paying for the USA's immigration problem. Cubans and Haitians are not trying to get to the Bahamas. We all know this. The Americans also know this.
