The local chapters of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity held a service at New Light Ministries over the weekend in anticipation of the group’s Founders Day celebration.
The ministry is where the Rev Antonio Beckford, a member of the fraternity, presides.
“In all things our fraternity acknowledges God as the Light of our path. As we prepared to enter another year of ‘culture for service, service for humanity, we found it fitting to worship with our brother Rev Antonio Beckford. We pledged to increase our community outreach projects and donations in 2016.” said Derek Smith Jr, president of Delta Epsilon Sigma Chapter (alumni chapter).
More than 50 brothers attended the service.
“Our chapters were happy to welcome our sisters of Zeta Phi Beta from the College of the Bahamas who celebrated their first anniversary at the college,” added Carl Horton, Founders’ Week Committee Chairman.
“Our organisations both seek to provide unity and service to the communities in which we live. The message of unity, service through the simplest of acts and a spirit of giving was preached well by Rev Beckford.”
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity internationally will celebrate 102 years of existence on January 9.
