A COLLEGE of the Bahamas lecturer and Valley Boys Junkanoo group beller became the country’s third murder victim this year after it is alleged that he was stabbed during an argument with his daughter at his Imperial Park home over the weekend.
While police have not released his identity, The Tribune understands he is Anthony Butler of Silver Palm Boulevard.
Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle, head of the Central Detective Unit, confirmed that Mr Butler was stabbed during an argument with his 26-year-old daughter on Saturday night at around 8pm.
“It is our preliminary information that a 26-year-old female had gotten into an argument with her father at their residence,” and during the process of this argument he was “allegedly stabbed in his upper body,” said Chief Superintendent Rolle.
He added: “We are continuing the investigation from here to see if we can get some help for the family.”
After the stabbing, the victim’s daughter ran to a neighbour’s residence where she explained what took place. This neighbour, who is also a CDU officer, arrested the woman, a police source confirmed.
Not long after the victim’s body was taken from the crime scene, family members clashed inside the home, which forced police to order everyone out of the residence. The home was later cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape.
As news of the tragedy spread, members of the Valley Boys visited the home where they reminisced about his contributions to the Junkanoo group.
Barry McKinney told reporters: “He was an excellent guy and a guy willing to help with the Valley Boys Junkanoo group. He was the chairman of the backline committee and he also launched, just in October gone, a health fair to make sure all of us was in good health.
“Losing a good member like that is a big loss to the Valley Boys right now,” he said.
“He was very active,” another member said. “Any shows or functions that the Valley Boys had to rush to he was always there and he would be in full costume. It is so sad that we heard this news tonight.”
While the investigation is ongoing, police are appealing to anyone with information to anonymously call police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS in New Providence or 1-242-300-8477 in the Family Islands.

Can The Tribune please turn off that weather forecast video that comes on whenever you open a page? Lower right corner, black box. It is extremely annoying and if you look at more than one page even more so. Thank you.
