A MAN awaiting trial on a murder charge said he would submit an alibi to the Office of the Attorney General within 21 days.

Bryant Rolle, 38, appeared in Magistrate’s Court yesterday for a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI) presentation that would fast track his case to the Supreme Court for trial concerning the November 25, 2015, homicide of Yves Smith.

According to police reports, Smith was outside a home on Sandilands Village Road when a man he knew struck him with an object. He was then rushed to hospital in critical condition where he later died.

Chief Magistrate Joyanne Ferguson-Pratt informed Rolle of the contents of the VBI and his right to enter an alibi in court or in 21 days to the Office of the Attorney General.

Rolle chose the latter and is now scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court on January 22, 2016, before Senior Justice Bernard Turner to receive a date for trial.

Rolle will be allowed to enter a plea to the murder charges in his Supreme Court appearance next week.

He is represented by attorney Krysta Mason-Smith who maintains her position that the facts of the case do not warrant a murder charge.

Rolle remains on remand at the Department of Correctional Services until his next court appearance.
