TWO men are in police custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Saturday.
Around 7pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Tonique Williams Darling Highway, when the two suspects in a Honda vehicle aroused their suspicion, police said. The officers signalled the driver to stop. One of the men threw a plastic bag containing several packages of marijuana out of the vehicle. The drugs were retrieved and the two suspects were taken into custody.
Police also report that they continue to reap success in ridding the streets of illegal firearms with the seizure of two more firearms and three rounds of ammunition in separate incidents on Saturday.
In the first incident, shortly before 4pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information conducted a search of an unfinished building located on Pine Crest Drive, Pinewood Gardens, where they found a .45 pistol with three rounds of ammunition.
Later that evening, shortly after 7pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team, acting on information, conducted a search of a building located on Lewis Street, where they uncovered a pistol grip rifle.
No arrests were made in these incidents.
