THE second annual Tour de Grand Bahama was announced during a press conference at the Ministry of Tourism yesterday.
According to Nuvolari Chotoosingh, manager of the Ministry of Tourism Sports Department, the event is all set to be held on Saturday (February 27) and Sunday (February 29).
“Cycling is for everyone,” Chotoosingh said, and they want to “encourage everyone to participate.”
He added that if anyone wishes to host an event such as this, where they are inviting visitors to our shores, they should contact them at the Ministry of Tourism.
With approximately 100 participants expected to attend, it is hoped this number will grow by the time the actual event comes around.
Kenton Roker, president of Grand Bahama Cyclists Club, said the proceeds of the event will go to an organisation known as Operation Christmas Child, where shoebox gifts are given to children all over The Bahamas.
The organisation is about assisting children with not just toys, but also school supplies.
