The Tribune’s street philosopher, “Potcake”, has sent a message to his fans as he continues to recover from a reported hit and run accident.
The popular commentator, who is a familiar sight around the streets of Nassau, suffered the injury in a traffic accident at the corner of Shirley and Church Streets in November. Potcake, whose real name is Locksley Thompson, suffered a broken hip in the accident.
Chris Lowe, who assists Potcake in sending his contributions to The Tribune, visited him at Pat’s Senior Citizens Home on Soldier Road, where he is convalescing, and said: “Potcake wanted everyone to know that, while he has a lot of work ahead of him before he gets back on the road with his trolley, he is doing much better.
“He is thankful for all of the support and well wishes he received from his fans. He is especially thankful to Loretta Butler-Turner and others who reached out to their networks for blood donations. In addition, there are other generous persons who have volunteered to assist with his rehabilitative and other needs who will be properly thanked and recognised in due course.”
Anyone who wishes to visit Potcake is welcomed. The home he is staying in is the third building east of Nassau Christian Academy. He is reported to be in good spirits - he added that people are welcome to bring him a chicken snack, as he is “losing his sexy belly”.
Mr Lowe added: “When we visited him, like always he had his newspapers open and reading, along with his Bible open on the table. He continues to write his prolific views and philosophies of current affairs, and is looking forward to seeing all his fans once he returns to the street on his regular beat.”
