Marine arrested after marijuana find

A ROYAL Bahamas Defence Force marine is in police custody after he was allegedly found with marijuana early Tuesday morning.

He was one of two persons arrested by officers from the Mobile Division for possession of illegal drugs.

According to reports, shortly after 9am, officers were conducting vehicular checks in the area of Plantol Street and East Street, when they signalled the driver of a vehicle, who turned out to be a RBDF marine, to stop.

The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a small quantity of marijuana. The RBDF officer was arrested and taken into custody.

In the second incident, officers were on patrol on Crooked Island Street around 2.30pm Tuesday, where they conducted a search of an adult male and found a quantity of marijuana. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

Investigations into both incidents continue.

He will go free. The Police & Defense Force do most of the crimes.
