FOUR Haitian men and one Bahamian man were taken into custody Tuesday night after they were found in possession of 21 kilos of suspected cocaine.
The drug find happened around 7pm in Inagua.
According to reports, Drug Enforcement Unit officers, along with Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos, and local Inagua police, acting on intelligence conducted a search of a vessel that came from Haiti. During the search, officers discovered 21 kilos of suspected cocaine and an assault rifle in hidden compartments.
Five persons were taken into custody. The suspects and the drugs were taken to Nassau on Wednesday.
Investigations continue.
