CALVARY Deliverance Church is gearing up for its third annual prayer conference to address the need for change in the Bahamas.
Slated for June 6 -7, at 7pm nightly, the conference will “not only set principles, explain what prayer is and how it works, but also help persons improve in prayer,” the church said.
The conference is being hosted by president of the Gatekeepers’ Ministry, Pastor Lena Pratt, as well as Pastor James Newry and Elder Queenie Newry. The theme this year is “The Power of Prayer”.
“Prayer is the way of life for believers, but if we are not careful it can become routine, repetitive and ritualistic,” the church said.
“The Disciples, after watching the life of Jesus, became aware that there was something seriously missing in their own concept of prayer. We, too, can very well find ourselves in this similar position in our lives. As the Disciples of Jesus asked for the Lord to teach them to pray, so is the family of Calvary Deliverance Church.”
Guest speakers will include Apostle Gail McKinney, Pastor Portia Ferguson and conference host Pastor Pratt .
“When we take a look at our country and the world at large we all can agree there is a need for understanding and using the power of prayer to change the path we are travelling,” the church said.
“Just as Jesus gained strength, courage, wisdom and power to overcome the evil one, and to bring new life to many around him, so we are to follow the examples of Jesus and commit our lives to prayer which will also help us in our daily lives with our heavenly Father.”
