Six held after drugs, firearm found on mailboat

Five men and a woman are in custody after drugs and a firearm were seized on a mailboat on Friday.

According to reports, shortly before 9:00am, a team of officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit, acting on intelligence, went onboard the mailboat from Bimini moored at Potters Cay Dock.

During a search they uncovered eight pounds of marijuana in a storage bin and a glock pistol with nine rounds of ammunition in a suitcase.

The six suspects were then arrested.

• A woman is in hospital after a shooting on Friday night.

According to reports, shortly after 11:30pm, a man and a woman were sitting in a car on Augusta and Cambridge Street, when several males armed with handguns fired upon them before fleeing on foot. The woman was shot and transported to hospital where she is listed in stable condition. The man was not injured.

Investigations are ongoing.

Bimini is the gun and dope capital of the Bahamas ........... why do we treat it as anything special ???????? .......... this place should be razed and the criminal families deported to Potcake's island of choice
