THE Bank of the Bahamas Bobcats were on fire this year, scoring a decisive victory in the recent Banker’s League Basketball Tournament to claim the winner’s trophy and bragging rights for a year.
Led by coach Jermaine Turnquest, the Bobcats executed a strong defence to defeat their arch-rivals RBC Lions in the tournament’s final game.
“Discipline was very good this year. The guys showed up to practice consistently. They worked hard and they listened and I think those were the factors that helped us win,” Turnquest said.
He congratulated the Bobcats and team tournament MVP Jeron Johnson for outstanding performances.
However, personally, Turnquest admitted that the victory was somewhat bittersweet for him because he was coaching rather than playing this year.
The team also received special commendation and certificates of appreciation from BOB Executive Management.
“We are very proud of our Bobcats and their achievement. We thank all of the team members who represent the bank so enthusiastically and congratulate them on a job well done,” BOB management said.
The BOB Bobcat team members include Kayle Munroe, centre, Jeron Johnson, point guard, Corey Maycock, shooting guard, Bernard Richards, shooting guard, Ricardo Saunders, point guard, LaMarque Drew, small forward, Oneil Sherman, power forward, Fylden Russell, centre, Dominic Laing, power forward, Moses Johnson, shooting guard/small forward, Henderson Curry, point guard, Ryan Turnquest, power forward, Whitney Brice, small forward, Cameron Reckley, shooting guard’ Silbert Clarke, assistant coach and Jermaine Turnquest, Coach.
