Under the theme “Operation Save Our Community”, members of the Bahama Brass Band recently took to the streets of Fox Hill in an Evangelistic outreach effort to touch lives with their music and preaching.
This initiative was spearheaded by Brother David G Beneby, the national band director, in conjunction with the police, the pastoral leadership and members of the Church of God of Prophecy, Fox Hill, which is led by Ministers Maurice Simms and Darrel Ferguson.
Organisers said the event kicked off with a street parade within the community and ended on the historic Fox Hill Parade grounds where an open–air service ensued. Members of the band and the Fox Hill COGOP congregation then combined their efforts in conducting a worship service and preaching the Gospel.
The lively and anointed service attracted many onlookers and passersby who responded positively to the call for prayers.
“This community thrust came about by inspiration of Director Beneby who felt the need because of the social and moral decay that are adversely affecting our communities,” church members said.
“The brass band has a part to play by going in these various communities like Fox Hill and others in spreading the Gospel via this music medium.”
According to the band’s public relations officer, G Sean Gibson, the Bahama Brass Band’s membership includes several ministers of the Gospel, it is always a special occasion to play their music in an effort to attract an audience who then listen to the Word of God being preached.
He said this has always been a forte for the Bahama Brass Band over the many years in touching lives.
“This is just one way how the Bahama Brass Band intends to fulfil the ‘Great Commission’, in going into the highways and byways. We were also delighted to have the COGOP National Family Life Ministries headed by Deacon Felton and Sister Eldora Beneby in attendance who handed out ministry tracts and witnessed to the people,” said Mr Gibson.
Going forward, the band’s said it will continue to extend a warm welcome to all by lifting up the name of Jesus by and “Saving Our Communities”.
