SHADOW Attorney General, Montagu MP Richard Lightbourn yesterday moved to “set the record straight” over his call for a police probe into the matters raised in the lawsuit against Canadian fashion mogul Peter Nygard for an alleged “murder for hire” plot.
Mr Lightbourn accused PLP Chairman Bradley Roberts and Fox Hill MP Fred Mitchell of trying to misrepresent his words in a bid to mislead the public on details connected to the lawsuit that involved senior PLP members.
Last week, Mr Lightbourn said the FNM wanted the Attorney General and the Commissioner of Police to look into the matters raised in the Nygard recordings and take appropriate action against “anyone concerned (if warranted)”.
Mr Roberts later insinuated that the Montagu MP was calling for an investigation into the acts of FNM Chairman Michael Pintard, who was named in the lawsuit.
“Let me set the record straight,” stated Mr Lightbourn yesterday.
“Their attempts are dishonest, misleading and unfounded and clearly, I was at no time calling for an inquiry into FNM Chairman Pintard and there could be nothing further from the truth.”
“I issued a press statement calling for an investigation into the matters raised in those recordings and anyone listening to the recording apart apparently, from Messrs Mitchell and Roberts would understand to whom the recordings were referring.”
“If Messrs. Mitchell and Roberts had taken the time to listen to the allegations made in the audio and visual recordings without blinkers on, they would have noted that the allegations in the recordings both by Mr Nygard and his associates are directed towards the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.”
Mr Lightbourn questioned the “close relationship” shared between Peter Nygard and the leaders of the Christie administration.
The Montagu MP questioned whether Mr Nygard’s alleged donations toward the PLP’s 2012 election campaign was given as a result of favours promised by senior Cabinet Ministers.
Mr Lightbourn said: “This matter is made worse when one considers the alleged close association of Mr. Nygard and the Deputy Prime Minister with unsavory individuals.
“The disrespect shown by Mr. Nygard towards our nation’s leaders raises concerns as to why the relationship would continue. What was equally alarming was the manner in which the two associates flaunted their relationship with the Deputy Prime Minister on whose behalf they purported to speak.”
Mr Lightbourn called for the allegations to be answered clearly and immediately, adding that it was the Christie-led government along with Mr Nygard and his hired associates that should be investigated.

Lightbourn cannot (and does not) disown his whiteness .............. like many blacks who disown their blackness by selling out to the white foreign billionaires (like Nygard and Bacon)
