This is a year for elevation and completion, not relaxation. Over the years, statistics have shown increases in suicides and cases of domestic violence involving women.
The truth is that some women are becoming more relaxed within their situations, and when trouble hits they do not know how to handle it.
Depression is on the rise, whether we want to admit it or not, and women are in fact hurting in the Bahamas.
It’s a year where we have to ask for help; we have to face our issues before they turn into a crisis.
For the women who are trying to bring life to situations that God has already proclaimed dead, release those situations.
For women that are thinking about giving up, know that you can never succeed if you stop trying. Life can be hard, but know nothing is impossible.
For women that feel like they are not enough, know that you are defeated by your own words, so begin to think and speak words of positivity for your life. God sent his only son to die for you because you are worth it.
We have to realise that in order to elevate ourselves to the next level we have to move from where we are now (ground zero). You cannot be a winner by giving up. When trouble hits home do not give in to your problems, this is no time to lose your mind or your head, ladies; it’s time that we as women capture the true meaning of life and find our purpose.
Push and pray until something happens, and while pushing, remember to work also.
With programmes such as Women of Strength, the Everyone Counts Organisation wants to continue to do its part with helping women through mentorship, support and leadership training.
With several programmes affiliations such as 30 Days to Win and Fight for Your Life, I believe that we have to give women more resources if we want to begin to see a decrease of tolerance of domestic violence, depression and suicides in women.
Now, while we know we cannot save all, we also know that we must try by helping one woman at a time.
• Everyone Counts is a mentorship organisation that helps persons recognise their true self-worth and gives support and resources to persons suffering from depression.
