On Da Hook

THE most common Tuna species caught in the Bahamas are Yellowfin and Blackfin.

The best way to target this species is using live bait, and the most abundant live bait in the Bahamas are pilchards. When live bait cannot be found, chunking with squid or bait fish can also be effective.

If these techniques are not working or you are trying to cover a lot of ground, trolling with a cedar plug or big feathers can also catch Tuna.

Keep checking the Bahamas Sport Fishing Network (BSFN) expert page for fishing reports throughout the Bahamas: this will be helpful in tracking the “hot spots” and providing advice on gear and fishing methods being used.

For a sample of the spectacular fishing to be had in The Bahamas, expert advice, tournament dates and results, informative features and photo galleries visit the BSFN page at tribune242.com or www.bsfn.biz.
