A CAR displaying a Member of Parliament plate was photographed ignoring a Disabled Parking bay sign at the Harbour Bay Plaza shopping centre on Saturday afternoon.
The MP31 plate displayed in the window is registered to Loretta Butler-Turner, the Free National Movement MP for Long Island. The car was parked across, and blocked access to, two bays.
The outraged Tribune reader who provided the photograph reported that “adding insult to injury, the MP plate has been detached from the vehicle and now rests on the dashboard”.

There was another one of the Chief Justice in a handicapped parking spot out at Old Fort Fresh Market.
GrassRoot 8 years, 9 months ago

sealice 8 years, 9 months ago
they are just flat our assholes who truly and clearly, as witnessed by how they park and their disrespect for Bahamians especially disabled Bahamaians, do not give one singlefuckingcent about the people that they want to vote for them

I was going to congratulate the Tribune on finally posting something other than regurgitated press releases, but.....
.... with 30 seconds extra work, they could have identified 'MP31' and named them, as they should.
Come on Tribune - DO BETTER!!
EnoughIsEnough 8 years, 9 months ago
i agree - the tribune fails repeatedly to do true reporting...
jackflash 8 years, 9 months ago
Read Bahamas!
They did name who it was..
jackflash 8 years, 9 months ago
They did name the offender..
People need to read the article...
EnoughIsEnough 8 years, 9 months ago
they amended the article - the original post did not have the MP's name...

I am sure the Gov can release stolen emails, but not a list of car plates of the MPs.
sansoucireader 8 years, 9 months ago
I hope this becomes a regular feature, posting photos of cars of arrogant lousy MPs who have their own 'code of conduct'.

Nothing new, they do this all the time, they do not care, they have no morals, they do not know the difference between right and wrong, and even if they did they still would not care.
They should be given a ticket and publicly shamed, and fired! That's a government car so it belongs to the people, it represents the people and it is shameful.
This was on someone's Facebook page last week: Black license plate #1 is the Chief Justice, right? Here they are, parked in a disabled only spot in front of Fresh Market OFB.
Me: "you've parked in a disabled spot. Are you disabled?" Driver: "No. But it was either there or park in the middle of the road" Me: "How do you expect others to follow rules when you don't?" Driver: walks off with a shit-eating grin

that's a good one. of all places Fresh Market OFB always has free parking slots avail.

Absolutely shameful. The police should determine the minister the car is assigned to and book them for the appropriate offense. But of course we are a lawless country, with leaders with no shame and little integrity. The police commissioner will do nothing. Lack of accountability and lawlessness are the root of many of our problems. Hence nothing will be done.

Mentally disabled for sure!
sheeprunner12 8 years, 9 months ago
That's not the MPs official car or even the MP driving that car ............ that is someone probably just using the vehicle at the time .............it is called slackness ........ there is another license plate on the car, with our government plate just stuck on the windshield ...... slackness ..................... BTW, who is MP#31???????........ a PLP backbencher??????
GrassRoot 8 years, 9 months ago
well I bet you make the same argument if someone else uses your gun....
sealice 8 years, 9 months ago
someone's gotta get a picture of the MP getting out/in next time by the way which one was it? That's what we all really wanna know?
asiseeit 8 years, 9 months ago
So Bahamas, lets use those smart phones and nail ANY public servant breaking the law, slacking off, or any other infraction. It seems the only way to deal with our lawless society is to EXPOSE as much of the dirt that we can and name and shame the suckers. Our authority's are useless at enforcing any laws, so this is the next best thing i guess.

"The MP31 plate displayed in the window is registered to Loretta Butler-Turner, the Free National Movement MP for Long Island." READ BAHAMAS READ!
Emac 8 years, 9 months ago
@Emac- But you know what? I read this article when it was first published online earlier today and I could swear that no name was included at that time. I think the Tribune pulled a fast one on us and added the name after. Hmmm...Banker did mention that the lady was handicap, I just never believed him until now. The lady gets a thumb down from me. I now see her in a different light. As far as I am concerned, we are finished as a nation. Any who looks at this as a trivial matter cannot see how these small things really measure how much integrity a public official has for his or her position and how they perceive the weaker among us.

Who you trying fool? Comrade after the story was first published, someone at the Tribune decided to 100% insert new copy, reading:
"Loretta Butler-Turner, the Free National Movement MP for Long Island."
I guess they prefer to first read the flavours of the bloggers posts - then insert new copy make bloggers look like bunch jackasses who can't remember 6 lines stories original copy.
birdiestrachan 8 years, 9 months ago
it is true no name was mentioned, I suppose they did not know it was her at that time because Butler Turner is their girl, Papa's big bouncing baby girl. If they had known it was her, this story would not have been printed. w
Emac 8 years, 9 months ago
Lol..."Papa's big bouncing baby girl." Too damn funny! But on a serious note birdie, I don't think that the Tribune would deliberately not print this information because of who the person is. Though it does raise red flags that someone came back to edit and inserted the name without indicating that it is an update, like they usually do. Perhaps someone from the Tribune can explain?
Emac 8 years, 9 months ago
Tal you are right, but you don't ever get this excited unless something negative is casted about your 2 biggest coolants, Ingraham and Butler.
TalRussell 8 years, 9 months ago
Comrade Emac to the contrary there is nothing personal. I respect both Papa Hubert and Loretta as individuals. I just don't have any time for Papa's bully, dictatorial ways, nor Loretta's political game playing underhandedness.
I have also often posted in defense Papa Hubert's personal commitment to live by his honesty.
But both their leadership times must now be filled by others not associated with either of them.
birdiestrachan 8 years, 9 months ago
Don Anthony welcome back you were gone for a while, It is none other than you representative If you folks had known that your response would have been different, the story or the car would not have made the news. You all thought it was a PLP person car, PLP members have to be very careful. of their actions and what they say,or the hounds of hell will be after them ,
Emac 8 years, 9 months ago
LMAO...I can't laugh!
DonAnthony 8 years, 9 months ago
Dear birdie who the cap fits let them wear it. I hope Loretta Butler Turner is charged, same for the Chief Justice. No one should be above the law. This has nothing to do with party, so why do you reduce everything in this country to party affiliation? As for my affiliation, you as usual are incorrect, I never voted for Mrs. butler Turner, and this only makes me less inclined to in the future.
jus2cents 8 years, 9 months ago
Absolutely agree, they must fine everyone 'no matter who they are' at least $300.00 if they are not displaying a Handicap sign.
GrassRoot 8 years, 9 months ago
who cares whose car it is? LBT needs to apologize and do a good deed, irrespective who drove the car. That's her business. This has nothing to do with party lines, it is just human decency. Maybe she puts in some community hours with disabled persons? (I mean other than spending time in the House of Parliament)...
