MEACHER “Pain” Major will be showcasing the next generation of amateur boxers in the “Battle of the Gladiators” amateur boxing show at the Ray Minus Boxing Center on Saturday.

Under the theme: “Put Down The Guns and Pick Up The Gloves,” the show will pit the Major Pain Boxing Club against the Champion Boxing Club, the Lion-Heart Boxing Club and all other amateur boxing clubs who show up.

The show is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.

“We want to try and keep the amateur boxing alive because it’s only been Ray Minus Jr doing it for quite a while,” Major said. “So our club is an active club and it is the number one club right now. We won the last tournament last year and we want to win this first one for the year.

“We know that everybody is out for us, but we are going to display our talent. We have about 15 young boys between the ages of 8-15 and they are performing very well.

“Last year we won the Ray Minus Sr Boxing Club in November and a few of our guys won titles, so we are looking forward to putting on another show.”

Major is calling for the public to come out during the Easter holiday to support the youngsters as they compete in the tournament.

“We are trying to get them to put down the guns and pick up the gloves because this is something positive that they can get into,” Major said. “The people can come out and expect a great fight because Ray Minus Jr has some boxers who are ready to compete.

“And every time I go to Ray Minus Jr’s club to train, he’s been telling me that they are coming for us and so it should be exciting this coming Saturday. We have invited all boxing clubs to come out and participate.”

There are at least 10 bouts to be contested during the show and once the boxers show up, they will match them up against each other.

“The show should be a very exciting one,” Major stated.

Among the sponsors for the show are the D’Albenas Agency Limited, One Stop Shop and Buttons Bridal and Formal Wear.
