WELLINGTON Miller, president of the Bahamas Commonwealth Games Association, is scheduled to depart for Zambia on Monday (March 28) to promote the upcoming Bahamas 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in Nassau July 18-24, 2017.
Miller will address the regional meeting of Commonwealth Games Associations to be held in Lusaka, the Zambian capital city March 30 to April 2.
“I will encourage all the African countries to participate in the Commonwealth Youth Games and let them know that Bahamians are ready and waiting to receive them.”
The Bahamas recently won the bidding process to host the Games, which will receive more than 1,000 young athletes and 200 officials from the more than 70 member countries of the Commonwealth of Nations around the world.
The Bahamas CGA president will also update the African CGAs on the progress of the joint Bahamas Government and CGA Local Organising Committee and the preparedness of all sporting venues in Nassau due to host the Games.
The Games will see Commonwealth-wide youth competition in athletics, boxing, swimming, cycling, judo, rugby, tennis and possibly beach soccer.
