The inspiration Je’Rome Miller draws from his spiritual journey is the driving force behind artwork he is about to unveil in a new exhibition.
Those familiar with Mr Miller know that he is has been “recharged” by his relationship with God, which he described as having reached a new level. This has also taken his artwork to the next level, he said.
Mr Miller will unveil his new work in the “Behold! The Beauty of God’s Creation” art show to be held on March 31 at Christ Church Cathedral Church from 6pm-9pm.
The show is the 10th annual art exhibition and fundraiser for the College of the Bahamas’ Winston V Saunders Memorial Scholarship Fund.
During the exhibition’s opening there will be performances by the Highgrove Singers and the CR Walker high school band.
Mr Miller told Tribune Religion he is excited to once again have the opportunity to inspire others with his art.
“My work in this show is based on our surroundings and the beauty of God’s creation. Every day I get up and go for walks; I take a swim and it makes me see the world with a different eye than most people. Those sights led me to this year’s theme,” he said.
Mr Miller said his paintings are divinely inspired and took shape as he dedicated private time to connecting with God. For some time now, he has used his work as a testimony and affirmation of his faith.
“I kind of like that my art show takes on a spiritual theme because I am a spiritual person. My earlier shows were exuberant and bold, but these past three years I have been liking the spiritual theme because of my closeness with my religion and God. That is a great influence and it helps me to achieve so much,” he said.
Joining Mr Miller is visual artist Tanya Evans, who is making her debut on the art scene and whose Christian faith will also be reflected in a series of leaf paintings.
“Over the years I have always wanted to be in an art show that captures the attention of real art lovers with that eye for the creative. Since I have connected with Mr Miller about a year ago he has mentored me a lot about the life of an artist, it’s ups and downs, but most of all the spiritual side of it all,” she said.
“I know that God is real. I feel him in the very air I breathe. God has given me such a great talent of a visual sight to see what the natural eyes can’t. God’s creation alone his is art. He is the greatest artist we will ever know. He is my inspiration.”
Part proceeds from the show will be donated to the scholarship fund which continues to grow each year, Mr Miller said.
There will also be jewellery showcased by Tabitha Jacynth Designs and numerous giveaways.
After the show’s opening, interested persons can make an appointment to view the artwork at the church. For more information contact the church’s office at 322-4186.
