FORMER Free National Movement Senator Michael Pintard has received the support of the party’s Marco City Constituency Association to become their standard bearer in the 2017 general election, according to sources yesterday.
The recommendation will go on to the FNM’s Candidates Committee and then the party’s Central Council for final approval.
Mr Pintard declined comment on the matter when contacted yesterday.
The MCCA’s letter follows a public endorsement of Mr Pintard by former FNM MP for the area Zhivargo Laing.
Mr Laing emphasized his support for the former chairman as he quashed rumours that he was returning to frontline politics in a Facebook post last week.
“I want to make something abundantly clear,” Mr Laing wrote.
“I have no interest or intent to run in Marco City or any other constituency in the upcoming general elections. I fully endorse Michael Pintard as the potential candidate for the constituency I once had the privilege to represent in the House of Assembly.
“He is a capable and intelligent Bahamian who can bring much good to Marco City and to our country. I want all to know, including the leader of the FNM and his brother, Boxer Minnis, I am not behind the scene or in the scene participating in any political activities.
“I am focused on matters dear to my heart and essential to the well-being of my family. I trust and hope that all and sundry will let the dead stay dead,” Mr Laing added.
Mr Laing lost his bid to represent Fort Charlotte in the 2012 election.
Former FNM Marco City candidate Norris Bain lost to current MP Gregory Moss by less than 300 votes in 2012. Tolonus Sands was the standard bearer for the Democratic National Alliance.
The FNM has ratified several candidates, including Dr Duane Sands and Shonel Ferguson to run on its election ticket in the Elizabeth and Fox Hill constituencies respectively.

It must be comforting for the resigned former red party's Comrade Chairman to have Zhivargo as the sole actor starring in his supportive Pop Up Video. Though i does seriously doubt if either these two reds have much of a followers base to draw from.

Resigned Comrade former red chairman you might wants gives thought that Papa Hubert back in 2012, had parachuted Zhivargo into the Ft. Charlotte constituency - cause he was facing certain reelection defeat for Marco City.
Zhivargo is in no position to be recommending ya self to the voters of Macro City, nor anyone's else to run.
Zhivargo's welcome mat in Marco City, had done been yanked - even before the 2102 General's bell got's rung by Papa.

Mr. 49% is the same as 51% Zhivargo Laing is an ignorant loser. Pintard is much better off without Laing as baggage.

So true. Laing's former leader moved him from Marco City to Fort Charlotte in 2012 to try to save his hide because Marco City quite frankly cannot stand him. His "endorsement" as it were is hardly a help to Pintard, but he of course seems arrogant and disconnected enough to think so. Meanwhile, the fact that the FNM is running Pintard speaks volumes about how disconnected from the people the FNM is.

Now I smelling one other big rat around here. . .these two fellas them "linking". . .one HM boy and the other HI boy. . .and the twin shall not meet! But they now "meeting" in public after the one from Grand Bahama rip doc Minnis a "new one" in his writing for the last few months. . .now he will not be coming back and "throw" his support behind Doc Minnis "star" of Bahamas Hustle?
Does this mean that Papa done give "them" his final word that "I een comin back no mo". . .and now "they" are coming on board of the "Doc express". . .rather than the "BT Express". . .hence the new push to get that other "leader boy" in the Senate to see if they can force a "pact" with the Doc. . . because they must know that a coup will not work with Doc. . .and a Butler-Turner will not work with the grass root FNM for two reasons?
One. . .they just don't dang like Butlrer-Turner. . .two. . . Butler-Turner is a woman. . .and like Brent Symonette is "locked out" of becoming PM because he is white (I will vote for him as leader of the FNM). . .the majority voter will not vote for a woman as yet. . .just like Bill # 4 is scaring the crap out of them. . .a woman "leading" men will do the same thing! Especially a "loud mouthed, biggity and back stabbing) woman. . .LOl!!
Me think that the "natives" in the FNM are restless. . .them chairs them are moving. . .BUT NOW I THINK THIS "LAST" MOVEMENT WILL BE BETWEEN SANDS AND THE GOOD DOC! THIS ALSO WILL SPELL THE DEATH OR SURVIVAL OF DOC ROLLINS POLITICAL LIFE. . .as a "rebel with every cause". . .Donald Trump can give him advice. . ."he is drinking his own cool aid". . .Rodney Moncur is a living example of one who is a "rebel with every cause". . .they are well suited for "fighting". . .as Castro said about Che Guerra. . .after he accomplished winning the revolution. . .Che himself must be killed. . .he is not suited for governance. . .he is pure fighting! It is said that Castro plotted the death of Che. . .Castro was afraid that Che was plotting to overthrow the new Castro government he just helped to established! Information captured after Che was killed found that as Castro suspected. . .Che was training and plotting to overthrow Castro's new government!
