Jacobi Bain reaches third round at Tennis Europe under-14 tournament

BAHAMIAN Jacobi Bain has been impressing at the Tennis Europe under-14 tournament this week in Sliven, Bulgaria, reaching the third round by knocking out two players, including the event’s third seed, from the host nation.

Tennis in Europe has long been the platform of choice for the launch of a successful career and is held across 43 of the 50 member nations of Tennis Europe.

Players from over 100 countries participate in these tournaments worldwide and some of the top professional players on the circuit today have participated in these tournaments.  

Bain obtained a bye in qualifying before his opening match in the main draw against Mihael Mihaylov, from Bulgaria.

The Bahamian took the first set 6-2, lost the second 6-4 but came back to win the third set convincingly 6-0.  

He then face the no.3 seed Alex Ganchev, again from Bulgaria, and won again in splendid fashion 6-1, 6-3.

But he came up against a third Bulgarian, Viselin Kiselkov, the twelfth seed, and went down in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Bain went into the tournament following a run to the Eddie Herr semi-finals last year  and participation (with teammates Denali Nottage and Kofi Bowe from Freeport) in the finals at the ITF World Tennis Juniors.

Bain continues with his singles play and is performingwell as he advances on the European circuit.
