JURAUN ‘Keno’ Burrows and his LF Basket team may have fallen short of winning the Swedish men’s Professional Basketball League title but the talented Bahamian still managed to cap off the season by being named the Player of the Year.

While LF Basket finished as runners-up to champions Sodertalje, Burrows was recognised for his performances on Wednesday when he was named the Player of the Year, the Import Player of the Year, selected to the first team as well as the All-Imports team as a forward.

“It’s a true honour to receive those awards in a competitive league like the Swedish Basketligan,” Burrows told The Tribune on Wednesday.

Burrows had the second best scoring average with 20.1 points per game in the league behind Corin Henry, of Jamtland, who led with 20.6. Burrows also had 9.2 rebounds per game.

“It was a very tough competition all year and in order to be successful I had to bring the focus and hard work every day,” Burrows pointed out about his performance.

“I try to do my best every day to represent as a Bahamian and a true professional in hopes that opportunities abroad to travel and do what we love will always be available for Bahamians.”

With the end of the season came the end of Burrows’ current contract with LF Basket. As a free agent, Burrows said he is weighing his options.

“My agent is handling the search for a new team in a bigger and better league,” he reflected. “This is time for me to rest and rehab and prepare my body for a long season next year, wherever it may be.”

Burrows, who is spending some time relaxing in the United States, has indicated that he will be home by the end of the month to begin his preparations to travel with the national team on June 20 when they head to Panama for the Caribbean Basketball Championships.

Burrows was a part of the team as the Bahamas won the title in 2014, but relinquished it last year, both in the British Virgin Islands.
