PROGRESSIVE Liberal Party (PLP) Chairman Bradley Roberts said Friday that the resignation of Lanisha Rolle from the Senate is a sign of a deepening divide in the Free National Movement (FNM) and concern about Dr Hubert Minnis' leadership.
Mrs Rolle resigned citing “the need to focus on a few personal matters”, after The Tribune published stories this week about an alleged recording in which she made disparaging comments about several FNM MPs, including Long Island MP Loretta Butler-Turner, during a conversation with political hopeful Lincoln Bain.
"The sudden resignation of Senator Lanisha Rolle from the Senate and FNM Parliamentary Caucus signals a deepening divide and growing unrest within the FNM which points to growing dissatisfaction with the failed leadership of Dr Hubert Minnis," Mr Roberts said in a statement.
"One of Minnis’ primary obligations, responsibilities and mandates as party leader is to build the next generation of political leaders who Bahamians can repose their confidence in to lead this country and he is failing to fulfill that fundamental mandate."
Mr Roberts pointed to Heather Hunt, John Bostwick and Michael Pintard as other Senators who have resigned from the Senate in the past several years.
Of these, Ms Hunt was asked to step aside by Dr Minnis; Mr Bostwick resigned after he was charged with illegal ammunition possession; and Mr Pintard resigned over his involvement in the court action against Canadian fashion mogul Peter Nygard.
"Just this week in the press, a member of Minnis’ caucus reportedly said that Mrs Rolle’s Senate appointment only underscored Dr Minnis’ poor judgment and leadership capability," Mr Roberts said. "Now with literally thousands of Bahamians watching and deciding on who is best suited to lead this country, they cannot help but conclude that if Dr Minnis is struggling with leading a political party then how can he possibly hope to lead a country given the myriad of challenges facing The Bahamas?"
"For those who would publicly wish me not to comment on the internal affairs of the FNM, I am merely reflecting the observations, opinions, the whisperings and postings of literally tens of thousands of Bahamians as this spectacle – this organisational leadership debacle plays itself out in the public domain to the horror, amusement, bemusement, befuddlement and dismay of the public."

What Minnis did restores some faith and hope in the FNM ............ what the PLP is doing to our country is downright criminal ....... Brad should call for the resignation of Perry and some of those incompetent PLP Cabinet Ministers before it is too late for them ........ but it is already too late ..... the defeat of the Sissy Referendum will seal the PLP fate next month

......................... Their deception was easily exposed .......................
Bradley Gargoyle Roberts is doing his best to distance the PLP from the FNM.
However, they are inseparably joined at the hip with this fraudulent "gender equality Referendum" that the Head Witch had no choice but to admit is actually an "Immigration Referendum" when pushed into a corner.
We're all voting "NO"

LOL ....... It IS almost impossible to civilly discuss anything regarding these pirates when with every passing day we see an abundance of new evidence of how they purposefully decimated our country and people.
Even more infuriating and insulting is watching the likes of this validated jackass trying to defend the indefensible!
Just vote "NO at the gate" to send them your message. They'll get it loud and clear!

Mr. Big Bad Brad, why don't you first explain to us why "she" decided not to pursue that rape charge against you! Just how much did "she" receive in political favours and/or money in exchange for "her" silence?

With regret, I concur with the comments of the PLP Chairman, particularly the last two paragraphs. Come on opposition, get it together!

These people have a lot to answer for for the poor state this country finds itself in. Infrastructure, finance, morals destroyed while they play and make "interesting" tapes at Nygard's Cay.

.............. PLP and FNM "CAUGHT" between a rock and a very hard place! ..............
They cannot justify four decades of leadership resulting in painfully obvious complete, abject failure of the country.
Thats exactly why they plotted this conspiracy to sneak these liberal immigration bills under the guise of a "gender equality" referendum to give citizenship to hundreds of thousands of Haitians and others in exchange for new voters!
However, Bahamians were not as ignorant as they thought and the PLP and FNM were forced to admit this so called gender equality referendum was a fraudulent debate and is actually an immigration referendum!
Four decades of friends, family and lovers governance have suddenly come full circle bringing the chickens home to roost.
We will vote "NO at the gate" on all four bills and reject both PLP and FNM in 2017 for attempting to GIVE OUR COUNTRY AWAY TO HAITIANS in an effort to save their own incompetent, corrupt, asinine skins!
