TWO men awaiting trial on a murder charge are set to return to the Supreme Court on Wednesday to receive a new trial date.

Judson Mackey, 22, and Tristan Deveaux, 21, were due to appear before Justice Bernard Turner yesterday for a fixture hearing in the May 25, 2013 death of Shanrio Deveaux.

On the day in question, in an alley between Thompson Lane and Strachan’s Corner, the victim was walking with another man and woman when he was approached by gunmen.

They shot him repeatedly about the body; he collapsed and was pronounced dead on arrival of EMS.

Mackey and Deveaux both deny committing the crime and have respectively retained Romona Farquharson-Seymour and Roberto Reckley to represent them.

Their case was scheduled to be tried last week. However, Hurricane Matthew’s landfall in the Bahamas has caused a delay in a number of cases before the Supreme Court.

Justice Turner had fixed a hearing for yesterday but has further adjourned the matter to Wednesday, November 2.
