OKAY, I had no idea that my Week 10 picks were so awful.
Well, I did get some inclination last Thursday evening after watching a couple of news clips of Ezekiel Elliott and Sam Bradford turning in far different press conferences than I had expected.
I envisioned a four touchdown performance by Bradford in which he commanded the Vikings offence. That didn’t happen. His stats were okay on the surface, but anyone that watched him against the Redskins saw a quarterback lost in the most critical moments of that game.
With Zeke, I expected a come-to-earth moment against the vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers defence. Instead, he pounded the Steelers for 209 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns - two rushing and one receiving. Away from his game-winning touchdown run, Zeke impressed for four quarters and in my opinion, wrapped up the rookie of the year award.
After my horrid 5-9 performance, I now sit buried among the basement dwellers in the Tribune picks standings.
Last season, to make up ground I started a quick pick strategy. No discussion, no logic, just a quick pick at first glance. I’m going to give it a shot this week, I hope it goes well.
