THE New Providence Basketball Association had some interesting games over the weekend as the division II swung into high gear along with the division one play at the AF Adderley Gymnasium.
Results of games played saw the Hype Basketball nip the Future Ballers 71-69 and the Athletico hold off Bargain Wholesale Kings 74-60 in a division II double header, while Mr Ship It Freight Regulators outlasted the Pirates 98-78 in a division one encounter.
On Friday night, the Shockers pounded the Legends 96-55 and the University of the Bahamas knocked off the Rockets 81-69.

the games played:
Regulators 98, Pirates 78: As the team to watch in the league, Mr Ship It Freight pushed their undefeated record to 3-0 as they took apart the Pirates.
Simon Cruz led a balanced attack for the Regulators with 17 points; Fabian Lightbourne had 12 points; Carlos Thompson had 11 points, five assists and four rebounds; Gameliel Rose came off the bench and chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds; newly acquired Patrick Brice had 11 points with four rebounds and Trujillo Darville added 10 points.
The Pirates, who fell to 1-3, got 19 points and four rebounds from Kevin Wright Jr. Tevin Hudson had 15 points and eight rebounds; Domonique Fernander had 12 points and seven rebounds and Elvardo Burrows had nine points.
Hype Basketball 71, Future Ballers 69: The Hype Basketball made their debut in the NPBA division II play a successful one on Saturday night as they went ahead 20-14 at the end of the first quarter and posted a 32-26 margin at the half.
Andreas Black had 19 points and 16 rebounds to lead their attack. Kenneth Johnson had 14 points and four rebounds and both Levond Colebrooke and Alexander Bullard added 10 points.
Future Ballers, whose debut was ruined by the loss, got 17 points and seven rebounds from Ryan St Jules; Koby Mackey had 11 points and four rebounds; Kingsley Blanford had 10 points and five rebounds and Wendall Altidor added 10 points.
Athletico Bahamas 74, Bargain Wholesale 60: Athletico was on cruise control from the first quarter as they led 18-7 to start the first quarter and were up 41-21 at the half. Cameron Adderley scored 18 points with seven assists and five rebounds to pace the winners. CJ Smith had 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists; Gregory Seymour had 11 points and eight rebounds and Walter Charlton helped out with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
For the Kings, who fell to 0-1, Richard Kemp came off the bench and exploded for a game high 23 points with four rebounds and three assists; Dennis Turnquest had 11 points, four assists and three rebounds; Cameron Ferguson had 10 points and Anthony Arthur added nine points with seven rebounds.
Shockers 96, Legends 55: In what started out as a close encounter after the first quarter turned out to be a rout the rest of the way as the Shockers improved to 2-1 in the men’s division one Vince Ferguson League.
Captain William Rigby had 16 points with five rebounds to pace the Shockers. Rosley Wilmore came off the bench and netted 15 points with 11 rebounds; Shakwon Lewis had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists; Antario Collie had 14 points and five assists; Vernal Johnson had nine points, four rebounds and four assists and Marcellus Mortimer added seven points and four rebounds.
For the Legends, who trailed just 19-13 at the end of the first quarter, but fell behind 47-27 at the half, got a game high 23 points and 10 rebounds from Renardo Benson. Christoph McKenzie had 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists and Ray Williams had seven points and six rebounds.
The loss dropped the Legends to 0-2.
UM 81, Rockets 69: In their first game since the transformation from college to university, the new look UM made this one look so easy from start to finish on Friday night.
Picking up their second straight win in the Vince Ferguson Division, UM opened a 16-9 first quarter lead only to watch as the Rockets, who dropped to 1-2, fought back for a 29-29 tie at the half.
UM took a 55-51 advantage at the end of the third and outscored their opponents 26-18 in the fourth to preserve the win.
Justin Smith had 26 points to lead the attack. Ramon Dames had 14 points, four rebounds and four assists; Kemsy Sylvestre contributed 13 points, 11 rebounds and four assists and Brian Jennings had 13 points and eight rebounds.
In a losing effort, Tomeko Moxey had a game high 21 points with four rebounds; Rashad Saunders had 14 points and 15 rebounds; Corey Williams and Dancil Knowles both had eight and Prez Thompson chipped in with six and 10 rebounds.
