TWO men were killed and a child was shot after three gunmen ambushed a group of people standing outside a home off Peardale Street, near Wulff Road yesterday afternoon.
Roland Telusnor, the father of one victim who died at the scene, identified his son as McKenzie Telusnor. The second man died later in hospital. Their deaths raise the homicide total to 74 for the year, according to The Tribune’s records.
Mr Telusnor, who seemed to have not yet come to grips with the death of his son when he spoke to The Tribune, said he was shocked to learn of his son’s tragic death. He said he didn’t know how to break the news to his wife, who was at the time at a local laundromat in the area and did not know of her son’s death.
“I love my son. I take care of my son even though he 22 year (old). I still take care of him,” Mr Telusnor, who struggled to speak English said. “You know when these young people walking all about you can’t stop them so when he (was) going out I don’t know where he going.”
Asked if he was shocked by the news, “Yeah”, he replied.
“He worked hard. Sometimes he take care of his family when he got couple dollars. His mommy don’t know nothing about this here because she go washhouse. I don’t know exactly what washhouse she go. She can’t hear this now.
“I feel sad about this because he my son.”
McKenzie Telusnor was also the father of a two-year-old son.
Chief Superintendent Clayton Fernander, officer in charge of the Central Detective Unit said the incident happened shortly before 7pm. He said police were continuing to probe the case to determine a motive for the shooting.
He said: “A group of men were standing here at Peardale when three individuals emerged from nearby bushes all armed with handguns. They fired a number of shots into the crowd.”
“As a result two adult males were shot to the body along with a young child who was also shot. One of the adult males died on the scene.
“The young child and the second adult were taken to the hospital by private vehicle.”
A statement released later by police revealed the second man, who was in critical condition, had also died. The child, who is in stable condition, is said to be around 10 years old.
Mr Fernander said the involvement of this young victim was of concern.
“This is a community where kids are always up and about and it appears that he had just left a pump in the general area. This is a well knitted community.”
This comes after 35-year-old C W Saunders Baptist School teacher Marisha Bowen was found murdered in her home earlier this week. The Guyanese national was three months pregnant at the time of her death.
Police are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information they might have to assist with both cases.

I truly feel for the Bahamian people, a government ran on lies. I have another place to go when things get real scary here, but the poor people have no where to escape too. Meanwhile the PLP lives in guarded mansions, carry guns, and protected by police, what do the Bahamian people have? I have never in my life seen such a greedy government as the PLP and the lack of compassion towards it's people; it brings me to tears, 34 years living here, and now it's finished.

Obviously another gang related street war is going on where lives are being taken tic for tax. Eyewitnesses report the killer had assault rifles and other persons were grazed with bullets and had to run for their lives. Comments in social media indicate Bahamians are tired of these killings, tired of young men losing their lives, tired of the funerals. They are tired of hearing the heart wrenching, emotionally and soul wrecking wails of mothers when they see their sons sprawled out on the ground or street, lifeless victims of gunmen's bullets. Some feel the government isn't doing enough to stop the carnage. Others feel it is the victims fault and a matter of "living by the sword and dying by the sword." The someone posed the question, "why are so many young men being groomed to become corpses?"

They forgot to mention in this report that the gun used was an AK47. Unfortunately these gang members are packing more heat that that RBPF can handle. Maybe Perry could run another carnival to give these young fellas some long term job opportunities to keep off the street. These children need a 9 to 5 to keep them busy, all along we have a government that is SLACK and cannot control crime. At this rate an entire generation of young men will be extinct.

The PLP see this as a positive for the unemployment rate. That is to say there are now two less young men who are unemployed... because they're DEAD! Way to go PLP!!!

Try to be a little more sensitive and not associate the tragic loss of life with getting jobs at a carnival. You must not understand the far reaching effects of these kinds of tragedies: Nassau is becoming the land of wth walking dead because even though two people may have died last night and others injured, many more died spiritually. Their soul died to witness such a tragic event. Many were young schoo age children. Persons who had no connection to the matter, except they live in the neighborhood.

"Investors are watching" get over it all. I am very sorry for persons who have lost their lives to violence and those who committed the crime have no future it is really not worth all. the problems and grief they have caused.. Governments can have stiffer punishments. But they nor the police know when fools will kill others.

Perry "Birdieshrachan" Christie, how dare you tell me to get over it! I've put tens of millions into your economy with my businesses, I've employed hundreds of Bahamians through out the 34 years living here. And have also lost millions because of your actions as Prime Minister of the Bahamas. But I didn't give up on the people until now because I knew those great Bahamian employees of mine had families to feed. But I can no longer keep doing business here, your PLP group has made it unprofitable, I will lose everything I've worked for in do time if I stay. But you on the other hand know their hurting to make ends meet and you still don't care. So don't tell me to get over it, because hopefully in the 2017 elections the Bahamian people will wake up and get over you; God help them if you win by fixing the ballot!

"Stop putting the blame on the government", give me a break.....LOL. If your government used the people's taxed funds and all taxed funds they receive for what it's really supposed to be used for, these kids would have a future and wouldn't have to do whatever is necessary to survive. This didn't start yesterday, this started over 40 years ago when Pindling took office, and I do mean TOOK, which rhymes with CROOK. If the government used the people's money for new schools, hospitals, colleges, road repair, building renovations, solar energy, etc. etc., the Bahamas wouldn't be in the poor state it is today.Tell that evil heartless dictator Perry "Birdieshrachan" Christie to visit a poor man's home some day so he can see how their living in poverty, but no, he's to busy stuffing his big fat body with Filet Mignons as he kisses Chinese ass.
