National bowling team brings the medals home

THE Bahamas Bowling Federation’s national team participated in the Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas (TOA) in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, at the Strikers Lanes.

Team Bahamas was composed of five men and three women competing in three divisions.

Johann Pyfrom had an impressive showing to lead the team at the tournament, winning six medals and bowling a high set of 1,352 which ranks second among Bahamians taking part in TOA.

The team, captained by Tyrone Knowles, comprised of Pyfrom and Ansel Ferguson in the adult male division, Tara Culmer and Tara Johnson in adult female, Knowles in the senior men, Addington Cambridge and Alfred Burrows in the super seniors men and Angie Smith in the super seniors female.

The eight-member team won the following seven medals:

Johann Pyfrom – Bronze Medal – Adult Male All Events.

Johann Pyfrom and Ansel Ferguson – Bronze Medal – Adult Male Doubles.

Johann Pyfrom – Sportsman Award – Adult Division.

Tyrone Knowles – Sportsman Award – Senior Division.

• The federation currently has a seven-member team competing in Senior World Championships of Bowling that is scheduled to wrap up on August 21.
