EDITOR, The Tribune.
PRIME Minister Dr Hubert Minnis is not a talker. Many of the problems he has gotten into in the past seven months as Prime Minister are because he is not gifted in that way.
That’s fine.
We did not elect Dr Minnis to talk. The last PLP government was a disaster. There was corruption. They accomplished very little. Perry Christie was lost as Prime Minister.
The Bahamian people elected Dr Minnis to do something about crime. They want him to fix the dump. They want him to create some jobs. They want him to do something with BEC so the lights don’t always go off and the bills are not so high.
Dr Minnis does not need to impress me with his words. I often listen to him fight with the English language. He loses most of those battles. It doesn’t bother me.
We need calm and sensible government around here for a while. We do not need dancing and wild promises that never come true.
When I read the newspapers and see the comments from the PLP, I get annoyed. All of a sudden they have all the answers. Why didn’t they implement them while they were in power? Why didn’t they solve the crime problem? Why didn’t they fix the illegal immigration problem? Why didn’t they grow the economy?
The answer to all those questions is they couldn’t because they don’t have a clue.
PLPs want power just to be able to share out things among themselves. This contract for you. That contract for you. That is the governing philosophy of the PLP: Let’s share it out between PLPs.
Dr Minnis and the FNM would have to do a horrible, horrible job for Bahamians to vote the PLP back in the next election.
That 34-to five thrashing the people gave the PLP was a message. We do not trust that party. We will not bring that party back until a whole new crew of people are there and all of the old guard has moved on.
Dr Minnis, stay focused. Keep doing what you know needs to be done.
I’d also give you one bit of advice. Be careful what you say. You have a tendency to let words slip out of your mouth before you reflect on what you are saying. Take your time. Think first, then speak. Answer simply and clearly. All of us are not blessed with speaking skills. We understand your limitation. Do not create problems for yourself.
Merry Christmas to you, Prime Minister and your Cabinet. We hope you have a successful 2018. We voted for you and we still support you.

Mr. Luther, as a fan of HAM it is OK to talk like that ........ However, Joe Public must not fall under a spell that the Minnis Cabinet is the best thing since slice bread ....... We must be aware that all of these politicians have lobbyists and special interest groups who are spinning public policy to their advantages.......... and HAM has made some foolish decisions that warrant the ire of Joe Public........... Let us start with the Ministers of Education and Transport.

"Dr Minnis and the FNM would have to do a horrible, horrible job for Bahamians to vote the PLP back in the next election."
FNM's have fooled themselves into believing that people overwhelmingly supported "Dr Minnis". Head in the Sand Syndrome. If they continue on their its some people's time agenda, typically "rich business people", and telling the public that concerns they voice are toolist, they guh find plenty people NOT voting.

"d also give you one bit of advice. Be careful what you say. You have a tendency to let words slip out of your mouth before you reflect on what you are saying.*"
Slip out? You're forgetting that many of those ill advised statements were given from prepared speeches. He knew exactly what he was saying. You should restate your words of caution to. "Remember your campaign promises to put Bahamians first"
