The Bahamas Table Tennis Federation (BTTF) has officially become a member of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). On May 31st, 2017, The Commonwealth of The Bahamas has was one of four of the last countries and territories to obtain membership. Global membership is 226 countries, making table tennis the only sport on earth to have full global participation.
The goal of the BTTF is to encourage, promote and control the sport of Table Tennis throughout The Commonwealth of The Bahamas
The BTTF is partnering with the ITTF to offer coaching to the physical education teachers to introduce table tennis into school programs. The ITTF is sending an International Course Conductor, Richard McAfee (USA), to conduct the training and this is part of a yearlong Bahamas Table Tennis Development Program funded by the International Table Tennis Federation. The course will be held June 25th-30th from 9am-4pm, and a club coach course on June 28th - June 29th from 6-9pm, both at the C R Walker Auditorium.
The ITTF/BTTF will also be hiring a National Development Officer (NDO) for the Bahamas. The NDO will be assisting with the implementation, development and training for table tennis. Resumes can be sent to Shameka Fernander at sfernander@gmail.com.
