BGA’S JR

NATIONALS

THE Bahamas Golf Federation will hold its Junior National Championships at the Ocean Golf Club on Paradise Island on Saturday and Sunday, March 18-19. Interested golfers are advised that they have until Wednesday, March 15, to register.

The tournament fast facts are as follows:

  1. The tournament is open to all junior golfers 18 years of age and younger with skill brackets to accommodate advanced, intermediate as well as beginner golfers.

  2. The tournament fee is $75.00, which provides 2 rounds of golf, snacks, fruit, granola bars, water, Gatorade and lunch on both days.

  3. Juniors are required to be BGF members to compete at a fee of $75, which makes it possible to create, establish and manage their golf handicaps each year, receive discounted rounds at golf properties throughout the Bahamas and receive tickets to all golf sporting events held in the Bahamas at no charge.

Membership cards will be created for each junior upon payment and you will also be added to our junior database to keep you up to date on all that is happening locally for junior golf.

  1. Intermediate golfers will play in the 18-hole division in which boys and girls compete against each other for each title, playing 9 holes each day.

Junior golfers will tee off from various tees based on age to make the competition fair. A stroke maximum of 8 will be used per hole.

  1. Beginner golfers, 10 years of age and under, will play in the 12-hole division in which boys and girls compete against each other on a short 6-hole course each day.

A stroke maximum of 8 will be used per hole.

BOWLING LEAGUE

THE top scorer in the Financial Bowling League competition last night was Stan Bethell of Strike Force with a 218 high game and a 599 high three game set.

Sonith Lockhart of Rubis Oil Stars was the runner-up with a 208 second high game and a 565 second high set.

Joy Lockhart of BTC Night Hawks was the ladies’ MVP with a 202 high game and a 540 high three game set. Angie Smith of the Moonlight Strikers followed with a 466 second high set. Tara Culmer of Forsythe Communications toppled the pins for the second high game of 176.

The scores for the evening were:

Strike Force blanked Deloitte & Touche 3-0; Leno Corporate Services nipped Moonlight Strikers 2-1; BTC Night Hawks held of Rubis Oil Stars 2-1 and Best Deal Kirki Bar and Forsythe Communications played to a 1.5 tie.

RUGBY

HEINEKEN CUP

THE Bahamas Rugby Union is scheduled to hold the final round of its Heineken Cup League action 2pm Saturday at the Winton Rugby Centre when Baillou will take on Freeport.

The winner will take on the Cuckoos Rugby Club who won the League title and automatically qualified for the final of The Heineken Cup on Saturday, April 1.
