UB Associate Professor named ‘Mother of the Year’

KEEPING the hearts happy of those she holds dear is what a mother does, says Bahamas Mother’s Club President Freida Johnson.

The word ‘mother’, she added, stands for love, compassion and care. At the Pre-Mother’s Day Annual Awards Presentation service at St Gregory’s Anglican Church last Sunday, Dr Carolyn Claralean Mabel Rolle was singled out for possessing standing for these values when she was named Mother of the Year 2017/18.

She was honoured, awarded and showered with gifts by the organisation established by the mother of the Bahamas’ first Governor General, Sir Milo Butler. She also received a standing ovation from those attending the service.

Dr Rolle is a 65-year-old mother of three, an associate professor at the University of the Bahamas and an associate minister at the Zion Baptist Church.

On receiving her awards and gifts, and enjoying the moment with her family, she thanked God and the club’s members.

The Bahamas Mother’s Club, located at the top of East Hill Street, was established by “Mother” Frances Butler to foster a sense of community, service and self-sufficiency.

Each year, the organisation highlights exceptional women who continue to serve their community and extend motherly love to all those in need.
