THE Bahamas Judo Federation has announced that 2003 World champion and 3-time Olympic medallist Amarilis Savon (fifth from right) will join the BJF as the female coach to lead the cadets into the Commonwealth Youth Games this summer.
“We have to put our team in the best position to win. We are confident that coach Savon will give us an edge,” said D’Arcy Rahming Jr, High Performance director of the BJF.
“The CYG will feature athletes from 20 countries competing in judo. Many of their senior competitors are Olympians.”
Savon will also coach senior national champions Cynthia Rahming (57Kg) and Taryn Butler (52kg) at the Grand Prix in Cancun this June, which is an important tournament for world ranking.
