THREE different teams were crowned champions as the Baptist Sports Council concluded its 2017 Basketball League at the AF Adderley Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

While the Eagles Nest emerged as the 15-and-under champions in their best-of-three series that finished on Saturday, the Independence Church of God and Macedonia rebounded from losing game one to sweep the Eagles Nest in their 19-and-under and men’s series respectively.

Eagles Nest, coached by Sterling Pratt, had three teams in the final after they won all three regular season pennants. However, they couldn’t pull off the encore in the final.

19-and-Under Championship

After getting blown out 72-47 in game one, Independence Church of God, coached by Henry Rolle, rallied to win 43-42 and 53-43 in the final two games to clinch the series 2-1.

Renardo Bridgewater was named the most valuable player.

Eagles Nest 72, Independence Church of God 47: Lorenzo Archer scored a game high 22 points, Ricardo Nixon had 17 and both Joshua Sweeting and Troy Trembley had 10 apiece in the win.

KJay Nixon and Andrew Penn had 13 and 10 points respectively in the loss.

Independence Church of God 43, Eagles Nest 42: Renardo Bridgewater scored 13, Burton Rolle had eight and KJay Nixon seven in the win.

Ricardo Nixon scored 10 points and Tyrell Butler had nine in the loss.

Independence Church of God 53, Eagles Nest 43: Renardo Bridgewater canned 11 points, Jason McHardy had 10 and KJay Nixon nine to lead the winners.

Troy Trembley had 14 points and Tyrell Butler added 12 in the loss.

Men’s Championship

After losing a close 39-37 encounter in game one, Macedonia Baptist, coached by Brent Stubbs, stormed back for a 35-25 rout in game two and held on a 41-40 decision in the clincher.

Randy Williams was named the MVP.

Eagles Nest 39: Dario McKenzie came up with 17 points and Qyemah Gibson had nine to pace the winners.

Randy Williams had 12 points and Shaquille Reid added six points in the loss.

Macedonia 35, Eagles Nest 25: Asher Scavalla pumped in a game high 16 points, both Delano Knowles and Davon Adderley had seven and Randy Williams six in the win.

Naldo Joseph had 12 and Tommy Rolle, Troy Trembley, Uriah Rolle, Dennis Johnson and DeWayne Murray all had three in the loss.

Macedonia 41, Eagles Nest 40: Randy Williams exploded for 15 points, Delano Knowles had eight, Asher Scavalla seven and DeVontee Gibson six in the win.

DeWayne Murray had 12 and Naldo Joseph added 10 in the loss.

15-and-Under Championship

Eagles Nest had to go to overtime to pull off a 35-30 win in the clincher to win the title. They won game one 50-31, but Macedonia came back to even the series at 1-1 with a 24-21 win.

Alexander Alteme was named the MVP.

Eagles Nest 50, Macedonia 31: Alexander Alteme scored 16 points, Matthew Simms had 12 and both Edwin Taylor and Theo Knowles added eight in the win.

Chrishaum Glinton scored a game high 23 points and both Emaniel Alexander and Alvinado Parker added four apiece in the loss.

Macedonia 24, Eagles Nest 21: Joshua Symonette canned a game high 15 points and Saheed Senusi added eight in the win.

Matthew Simms scored seven and Vito McIntosh had five in the loss.

Eagles Nest 35, Macedonia 30: Anthony Bain had eight points, Jakivone Stubbs had eight and Alexander Alteme had seven in the win.

Joshua Symonette had a game high 12 points, and both Saheed Sanusi and Emanuel Alexander contributed eight in the loss.
