Man dies in accident at Grand Bahama business

A 23-year-old man is dead following an industrial accident at a facility in the industrial commercial area of Grand Bahama.

The identity of the victim, who is a resident of Frobisher Drive, Freeport, has not been released.

ASP Terecita Pinder said police received a call of an incident that occurred shortly after midday on Tuesday at a business on Queen’s Highway, where a male employee had sustained serious injuries.

The victim was transported by EMS to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where he was seen by a doctor. He died from his injuries around 4pm that afternoon.

Police are investigating the incident. Drug Enforcement Unit officers meanwhile discovered a firearm in a garbage bin near a community park in the Freeport area.

According to reports, shortly before 2pm on Tuesday officers went to an area on Sergeant Major Drive near a community park and discovered in a garbage bin a 9mm pistol, along with a magazine containing three rounds.

No arrest was made.
