With a new leader in place, the Bahamas Anglican Cursillo is now ready to face 2018 head on.

David Ferguson was elected to lead the ministry, which seeks to provide a method by which Christians are empowered to grow through prayer, study and action, at last Friday’s AGM. He will be assisted by Rhonda Rolle.

Mr Ferguson thanked the body for electing him as lay director and pledged his full commitment to ensuring Anglicans are informed about all Cursillo activities for 2018, which are now in the planning stages.

He urged all Cursillistas within the Diocese of the Bahamas to get involved in a group reunion so as to strengthen the ministry at their various parishes, because Christ is still counting on them to carry out the great commission, making disciples for His kingdom.

Mr Ferguson also emphasised that everyone will have a voice as the ministry goes forward.

But he admonished that the parish representatives must be excited about and committed to the ministry, as this is the life line from the Cursillo Secretariat to Cursillistas at the various parishes throughout the Diocese.

Service

Following the AGM on Friday, the annual thanksgiving service was held at St George’s Anglican Church last Sunday.

Archdeacon G Kingsley Knowles is the rector of the church, but the preacher for the service was none other than the spiritual director for the Cursilllo Ministry, Canon Sebastian Campbell, who demanded that Cursillistas revive the passion they have for the ministry as they have much work to do.

He said there are many obstacles and challenges Cursillo faces, but through God all things are possible. The church has benefited from this renewal ministry tremendously, he said.

Cursillistas are an active part of the church leadership.

A clarion call has been made for all Cursillistas to be a part of the ministry that has been instrumental in enriching their spiritual lives.

“Come back, give back to those who have not yet done a three-day weekend, that they may receive that mountain top experience you had on your weekend,” said Canon Campbell. “It’s time to live out your fourth day, giving Cursillo the passion needed to continue to be a pillar in our Diocese.”

Canon Campbell also installed the newly elected Cursillo Secretariat officers.
