PILGRIM Baptist Temple is marking a milestone this year – 70 years of worship and service to the community.

The commemorate this momentous occasion, the church’s pastors and members are celebrating in grand style. The year-long festivities hit a high note last Sunday night with the Ole Church Choir Concert, an event which Pilgrim Baptist hopes to make an annual occurrence.

The concert was hosted at the church on St James Road and featured choirs from throughout New Providence and even a Family Island. The congregation filled the pews to join in the celebrations with choirs such as the Pilgrim Baptist Sanctuary Choir, the Annex Baptist Choir, the Zion Baptist East and Shirley Street Choir, the Transfiguration Baptist Choir, and the famous Rahming Brothers from Cat Island.

The night also featured Bishop ER Frazier, Pilgrim Baptist’s former head pastor, who brought the church to their feet as he joined in on the praise and worship. The evening was emceed by Rev Pascale Saunders.

The Pilgrim Baptist senior pastoral team took time out to honour their former choir organist, Sister Jenny Cox, for her commitment and and hard work while she was a member of the church’s choir (she is now a member of the Zion Baptist Choir).

The event also provided a platform to honour those who helped build Pilgrim Baptist Temple and make it the staple in the Kemp Road community that it is today, with its ongoing outreach programmes such as the soup kitchen, early morning school breakfast drive and on-site library.
