LAST weekend’s schedule on the pro basketball circuit featured a number of standout performances from Bahamian players across the globe.
Jaraun “Kino” Burrows scored a season-high 31 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished four assists in FOS Provence Basket’s 89-76 win over Nantes in the French B Pro League.
Burrows shot 12-15 from the field and was named the game’s MVP.
He propelled FOS to outscore Nantes by 22 in the paint with a 56-34 advantage. Defensively, they forced 20 turnovers and shared the ball well with 27 assists.
They improved to 1-1 and will face Michael Carey Jr and the Étoile Charleville-Mézières next weekend.
Carey scored a team-high 20 points but his Mazieres club fell to 0-2 after a 75-68 loss to Aix-Maurienne.
Also in the French B Pro League, Johnathan Fairell scored seven points off the bench in 13 minutes to help his ADA Blois club improve to 2-0 with an 81-71 win over ALM Evreux.
In the Turkish Women’s Basketball League Waltiea Rolle continues to lead her Edremit Gure Belediyespor Club.
She finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds in her team’s 86-45 win over Bayrakli to improve to 2-1. Rolle shot 12-15 from the field and blocked three shots in just 22 minutes.
Bennet Davis is in his first season with MAFC Budapest of the Hungarian Basketball League. He finished with 17 points and nine rebounds in a 75-70 loss to DEAC.
In the Japan B2 League, Kadeem Coleby continues to his Akita Northern Happinets to an undefeated season thus far at 7-0.
Coleby posted another double double with10 points and 10 rebounds in Akita’s 71-68 win over the Aomori Watts.
Akita dominated with 49 points in the paint and outrebounded Aomori 44-29, 21-6 on offensive boards.
In Finland, Winslo Barry has been a force at the pivot spot for Jvaskylan Weikot in the Finnish First Division in his third season at the professional level. He posted 14 points and eight rebounds in a 90-68 loss to Munkkiniemen Kisapojat.
