WHEN the Bahamas Cycling Federation heads to the polls on Saturday to hold their election of officers, incumbent president Roy Colebrook will be seeking another term in office.

Colebrook, who assumed the top post after the death of former president Bertram 'Cowboy' Musgrove, said he's confident that he will be re-elected for another three-year term because it's a job that is tailor-made for him.

"Not many people are cut out to do this type of job," he said. "You have to be able to put in the work because there is a lot that go into running the federation and I don't know if there are that many people who are willing to do that."

The elections will take on Saturday at 4pm at the Bahamas Olympic Committee's office on Soldier Road.

Colebrook, who also currently serves as a vice president of the BOC and was the chief de mission for the both the recent Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games, said, if re-elected, his goal will be to get the Bahamas cycling at the Olympic Games.

While there are no persons nominated as yet, secretary general Barron 'Turbo' Musgrove said nominations will be accepted from the floor. Already, confirmation is in for persons representing Exuma, Andros, North Eleuthera, Grand Bahama, MICA, Long Island and New Providence, according to Musgrove.

And while Musgrove has not confirmed whether or not he will be seeking another term as the secretary general, nominations have been received from Tisha Knowles from MICA, who will challenge Shirley Mireault from New Providence for the assistant secretary post.

Musgrove said nominations have already been accepted for vice president from Grand Bahama and Exuma. He anticipates that there will be other nominations from the floor.

At the same time, Musgrove serves as president of the New Providence Cycling Association and their elections are slated for November. He also indicated that he may not be seeking another term as he wants to get other persons to step forward.

"I will make my determination before the elections in November," Musgrove said.
