Christ the King Anglican Church hopes to inspire a nurturing love of God and people "that burns like fire" during tomorrow night's youth conference.

The event is being presented by the church's youth arm and will be held at the Murillo A Bonaby Parish Centre, Ridgeland Park West, beginning at 7pm.

The one-night conference is a part of a series of events being held during the month of February, which is observed as Youth Month in the parish. The theme for the entire month and the conference is "Ablaze".

" 'Ablaze' is the chosen theme this year because it depicts what we as youth leaders in the Anglican Diocese desire for our young people, to have hearts on fire for Christ," said Odia Richardson, youth director.

"They move from the casual association with Christ - church attending - into a real and meaningful one; a relationship. The scripture reference is Revelation 3:20: 'Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me'," she said.

The guest preacher will be Pastor Rosmery Bethel of Epic Church, who will be featured along with the CTK Dance Ministry, the CTK Chorale, CTK drama ministry, the Holy Cross junior praise team and others.

"The aim of the conference is to set young people ablaze with the love of Christ and to inspire them to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in the world. Also, to provide an atmosphere where youth can encounter God's presence, focus on serving God and others. To strengthen testimonies, make new friends, and have fun with youth who share similar beliefs and standards. And as a faith community to help people grow in relationship with Jesus and each other," said Ms Richardson.

The conference is primarily for ages 12 and up, as well as for the parents of young children who may want to attend. A special film will be shown for the younger kids in the youth centre. However, all ages are welcome.

Ms Richardson hopes the conference ignites a greater love and passion for Christ in all who attend.

"People should attend because it is a free event that is open to all ages even though youth are the focus. We're sure that every age can benefit from this conference. Also, other youth leaders are invited to bring their youth groups, regardless of size or denomination. Youth will have fun together, be challenged and encouraged by the word of God, and in worship grow together both with one another and with youth from a cross section of other denominations," she said.
