FRIENDS of a Baha Mar lifeguard who disappeared after purchasing a boat late last week are making a desperate appeal for assistance in his discovery.
Sharvette Miller told The Tribune on Friday that her close friend and former co-worker Samuel Leroy Moss, 27, has been missing since last Sunday when he travelled to Fort Lauderdale to purchase a small fishing vessel with the intention of returning to Nassau by sea.
Ms Miller claims that Mr Moss sailed to Bimini with the people from whom he purchased the boat, with the intention to part ways once reaching the island.
“We have video of his last post that he did on Snapchat letting us know he’s on his way home, said Ms Miller, who explained that Mr Moss did not have much family with the exception of a younger sister.
"But now, the phone went out from there as he was leaving Bimini Channel. He was gonna stop to Andros for fuel and to see family, but we’re not getting a clear understanding of whether he made it there.
"He doesn’t have much family and his friends are pretty much all he has," she continued.
"We contacted the RBDF on Sunday and it is said they sent a plane and a boat out. They state that his cell phone was pinged off a cay but not exactly where. Could we please get some help?"
The Tribune was unable to confirm whether the Royal Bahamas Defense Force were actively searching for Mr Moss up to press time.

Tragedy never happens in the singular. It just keeps multiplying.

Misleading headline. He went missing after leaving Bimini to go to Andros.

Not the best time of year to be crossing the ocean in a small, single engine boat. I hope that he is found safe and sound.
