AN armed man was shot dead by police in Abaco during a confrontation in the Central Pines area early Friday morning, police reported.
Sometime after midnight, officers were called to a business in Central Pines where a man with a firearm was discharging shots into a crowd, police said.
ASP Terecita Pinder reported that officers quickly responded and confronted the suspect, who on seeing police, pointed the firearm in their direction.
“The officers became in fear of their lives and discharged their police service firearm, hitting the suspect and fatally injuring him,” she said.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and a black tech-9 weapon, magazine and ammunition from the suspect were recovered by police.
The matter has been forwarded to Coroner Jeanine Weech Gomez. It is the first reported fatal police shooting of the year.

Two more shot and killed by the police in the Carmichael/Cowpen Road area today. Has police shootings now exceeded the number of homicides over the past three months..just asking. .. Bad boys should realize by now that the police will shoot back and usually will not miss.
